Mandate Overview

The mandate

Egypt's e-invoicing system, run by the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA), has been mandatory for B2B transactions since the rollout completed in stages between November 2020 and May 2021. As of January 2023, B2B invoices must be submitted with effectively real-time clearance on the same day of issuance. Resolution 281 of 2025 cut the mandatory VAT and e-invoicing registration threshold from 500,000 EGP to 250,000 EGP annual revenue, with newly in-scope businesses required to register by March 31, 2026.
